Return to Work
After Brain Injury
concussion/brain injury
Working after brain injury, including concussion, can be challenging… OBIA’s Return to Work Team can help.
Employers and individuals living with the effects of brain injuries often face barriers throughout the return to work process, whether that is returning to a pre-injury role or re-entering the workforce. Some of these barriers may include: stigma, lack of knowledge and understanding, challenges navigating systems, difficulties managing setbacks, the complex nature of brain injuries, and limited support available for employers, employees, and job seekers.
For employers, ensuring a smooth transition back to work after a brain injury, and providing thoughtful onboarding for new employees with disabilities, can help to foster a positive workplace environment, encourage strong workplace relationships and to retain qualified employees.
For individuals living with the effects of brain injuries, the inability to return to work and unemployment are often linked to mental health challenges, including depression, low self-esteem, and low life satisfaction.
OBIA offers online training, skills groups and one-on-one services to help support employers, employees, and job seekers navigate these challenges. The programs are FREE to those based in Ontario and are funded in part by the Government of Canada.
Our services are offered at no cost funded in part by the
