The goal of this program is to provide employers and their employees with tailored education, training and Enhanced Support Services to improve the return to work process. This service is available at NO COST funded in part by the Government of Canada.
employer SUPPORT INITIATIVE
The Employer Support Initiative provides:
- An online training program tailored to employers (e.g. supervisors, managers, executives, HR representatives). Estimated completion time is 75-90 minutes. Topics Include:
- Concussion/Brain Injury and Returning to Work
- Symptoms and Accommodations
- Mental Health and Stress in the Workplace
- Communication and Managing Setbacks
- Access to Enhanced Support Services, which includes guidance and consultation on gradual return schedules, accommodations and problem solving around setbacks. Provided by a registered Occupational Therapist
- To further support the return to work process your employee can access support from a Registered Occupational Therapist and Registered Social Worker
- This portion of the initiative is a collaboration between you and your employee
- To ensure appropriate consent is received, your employee must initiate these services by contacting the Return to Work team directly

The Employer Support Initiative is designed for anyone who is supporting an employee return to work after a concussion/brain injury. This includes those in roles such as managers, supervisors, team leads, CEOs, executive directors, human resources, occupational health and safety professionals, union representatives, return to work specialists, ability specialists etc.

By engaging in the online training you will learn about the impact of concussion/brain injury on the return to work process. You will further learn about accommodations and strategies to support your employee. Not only will this training help your employee with a concussion/brain injury, but many of the strategies can be used to help support all of your employees.
This initiative helps you to ensure you are meeting your obligations as an employer to accommodate your employees.
